Why didn't they love me
enough to give me
heartworm preventative?
Rest in Peace, sweet girl -
September 4, 2007
We found Kaycee too
late to save her. The heart worms that devastated
her body for so many years before she was rescued
could have been prevented by a simple monthly pill.
Her last days may have been her best - she was cared for
and loved.
Stray dogs have special problems and
often come in to rescue needing extra medical treatment
for conditions such as heartworm disease or injury. The cost of treatment is high
so we
have dedicated a special fund raising effort in Kaycee's
memory to help dogs
like her get a good start on their second life in a
loving home. Over the past 3 years, almost 35% of
our expenses have been for successfully treating
heartworm and emergency surgical needs for dogs coming
into rescue. If
you would like to help us continue to provide this type
of care, consider
donating to the Special Vet Care drive inspired by
Kaycee's plight. You can
send donations via Paypal or to our
mailing address below.
Thank you from all her fellow canines who
will receive treatment and live a normal, healthy life.
To mail in a donation, please make out
your check or money order (in $US) to "JNMRF-SVC" fund
and mail it to JNMRF, P.O. Box 65, Mendenhall, PA 19357.

WANT TO SPONSOR A
SPECIFIC DOG?
Many times you'll see a dog on our site and fall in
love. Often you just aren't in a position to adopt
right now. If this happens, why not consider
sponsoring that dog's upkeep? Just click on the
drawing of the sleeping elkhound to contact us about
sponsoring any dog! There is a link on the menu
bar at the left of each page as well. That dog
will really appreciate your love. Thank you!

Established in
August of 1996,
we believe this
to be the oldest
Elkhound Rescue
page on the
Internet. It
arose from the
common desires
of group of
people with one
common goal: to
find caring,
loving homes for
Norwegian
Elkhounds and
Elkhound mixes,
in both the
United States
and Canada.
Eventually these
desires and goal
became the
foundation of a
rescue
organization
called the John
Nelsen Moosedog
Rescue Fund.
If you cannot adopt a needy Elkhound now,
but would like to help with our efforts, you can make a donation to:
John Nelsen
Moosedog Rescue
Fund

or

If you wish to refer a needy dog to us, please use
the Submit for Adoption form to provide as much
information as possible. We are a national rescue and need information on
the location of the dog as well as the legal owner or responsible party. |
